Co-op top-down shooter game set in Mars

Jamestown+ is a premium action game for PC developed by Final Form Games. It is a top-down shooter that features a unique alternate reality. In it, players participate in the historic events that took place during a colonial war on planet Mars.

Similar to other games like The Ascent or SYNTHETIK: Arena, Jamestown+ offers fast-paced and engaging action mixed with some bullet-hell gameplay elements for a nice challenge through its various distinct levels. It features multiple ships to choose from, as well as support for up to four players at the same time.

17th century Mars

Jamestown+ is being hailed as a neoclassical co-op shoot 'em up that can be played with up to four players. It serves as the remastered edition and definitive experience of the original Jamestown game by the same developer. The game takes place on 17th-century British colonial Mars. In it, you take on the role of Raleigh and join the fight to protect Britain's last bastion, the titular Jamestown.

Compared to the original, this one introduces various visual refinements to animations, ship and enemy design, as well as an overhauled user interface. It also features two new levels to play set on the moons of Mars, Phobos and Deimos. What's more, new ships have been added to the mix. Each one boasts unique special abilities and allows you to customize them with different weapon loadouts as you want.

As mentioned, you can play with up to four players simultaneously, and it allows for the use of virtually all control schemes, from a mouse/keyboard combo to d-pad controllers, and even joysticks. A seemingly minor but very noticeable thing to note here is the lack of hit feedback, specifically on small enemies. It just feels like you're shooting at a wall most of the time.

A fine remaster

If you've played the original before, you'll find that the new Jamestown+ introduces some nice additions that make the overall gameplay better. From the visual refinements to the new levels and ships, it improves upon its predecessor in almost every way. If this is your first time playing it, then you'll have the definitive experience and just a solid arcade shooter in general.
